The series of digital prints were inspired by the Escherichia Coli - a genetically engineered bacteria which fluoresces under UV light. The portrait of bacteria was painted with bacteria itself which, after a 48 hour incubation period, added its own unique signature to the artwork, creating a collaborative piece with Darya.
With the help of microscopy Darya examines different parts of the portrait through digital prints - a meditation of modern day obsessions with ourselves when we constantly put our lives under microscope, literally and metaphorically.
